Important changes to U.S. customs laws that affect how your SLAITE orders are delivered to customers in the United States have taken place.
Until now, shipments valued at $800 or less entered the U.S. duty-free under the de minimis exemption. Effective August 29, 2025, this exemption has been suspended by US executive order.
What this means for you and your customers:
- All packages entering the U.S., regardless of value, must clear customs and may be subject to fees, duties and taxes
- Duties will be collected at delivery by the carrier before the package is released to your customer
- This may result in longer transit times and additional costs for your U.S. customers
- Duty rates may change over time with evolving U.S. trade policy
As a creator on SLAITE, there is no one-size-fits-all strategy we can recommend—your business and customers are unique. The most important step you can take is to keep your U.S. customers informed so there are no surprises at delivery.

Duties are cross-border taxes collected by the CBP (Customs & Border Protection) as government revenue to protect local economies and industries. Taxes are government fees for imported goods. Taxes are typically paid by the importer.

Yes! US shipping is trackable unless the package is travelling to a P.O. box. Unfortunately, UPS requires a street address for trackable shipping.
Orders are fulfilled on-demand within 5 business days of the order being placed. Once an order is fulfilled, it is ready to be shipped. Shipping times vary based on the recipient’s location. US orders are delivered within 1-5 business days and Canadian orders are delivered within 1-5 business days.
